Nestled along one of Edmonton’s charming hubs for local creatives, boutique shopping, delectable eateries, and more, Frida Urban Taqueria is a Mexican restaurant where flavour comes to life. Renowned for using fresh ingredients in their margaritas, and handmade tortillas for every taco, Frida has been nominated for the best margarita in Edmonton! As a sanctuary for those seeking flavoursome, authentic, and traditional food, Frida Urban Taqueria has quickly become a favourite in Edmonton’s food scene.

The restaurant is near the Valley Line West LRT’s future 124 Street stop, 12411 Stony Plain Road.

“The Valley Line West LRT will be great to connect with the community of Edmonton. With the new train at this location, we look forward to welcoming more customers,” shared Mayte Bailon, Frida Urban Taqueria’s owner. “From our humble beginnings in the 104 Street Farmers’ Market, to now having this beautiful restaurant, our service and quality remains the same, and I think the Valley Line West will help us get noticed.”

Inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, the family-business began as a stall at the Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market, formerly located on 104 Street. With increasing orders and popular demand, Frida Urban Taqueria set up shop on 124 Street and continues to wow patrons with their exceptional flavours, warm hospitality, and welcoming ambiance. The walls of the restaurant are decorated with vibrant murals and paintings of Frida Kahlo, done by Bailon’s sons, and transports one to a fiesta in Mexico.

The restaurant also takes catering orders for private functions, weddings, corporate events, and more.

“If you want to indulge in authentic Mexican flavours, and take in the refreshing atmosphere, Frida is the perfect escape, even if it’s just for a meal.”
